What’s in your future

The Catalyst has landed one of the hippest bands on the scene right now. The French foursome Phoenix has been around a while, but only in recent months have they started to rise to stardom levels in the U.S., thanks largely to their wild 2009 album “Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix,” which includes the irresistible hit “Lisztomania.” Phoenix comes to the Cat on April 17.

Also newly booked into town is a pairing of great veteran folk singer/songwriters John Gorka and Patty Larkin. They play March 11 at the Rio.

Two of the most talented musicians California has ever given the world are guitar wizards David Lindley and (local guy) Bob Brozman. The two team up at the Rio on April 3.

And, how’s this for an interesting show? A group of local artists will put together a musical production inspired by a monologue called “The Nazz” by the largely forgotten hipster poet Lord Buckley. That takes place at the Kuumbwa Jazz Center April 8.
