Big news Tuesday in the realm of the arts in Santa Cruz. The Community Foundation of Santa Cruz County named the recipients of the 2010-11 Rydell Visual Arts Fellowships.
Four artists will each receive a cash award of $20,000 to further their careers, as per the wishes of the late Roy and Frances Rydell, iconic arts supporters for decades in Santa Cruz.
The four artists are abstract painter Tim Craighead, installation artist Victoria May, sculptor Andy Ruble and painter Andrea Borsuk. To be eligible, artists had to be working professionals over the age of 25 not enrolled in a degree program and living full time in Santa Cruz County.
